System Headquarters Office

While the System Headquarters Office does not provide direct service to the public, the Office does provide services to its member libraries in the following areas:

  • Information technology
  • Technical services (acquisitions, cataloging, processing of library materials)
  • STAR outreach services to older adults
  • Training services for staff and board members
  • Administrative and financial services, including fundraising support

The Cumberland County Library System (CCLS) consists of 7 federated local libraries, 1 branch facility, a system headquarters office and an associated non-profit Cumberland County Library System Foundation. The library system provides service to more than 260,000 people in Cumberland County and a small portion of Franklin County.

Cumberland County Library System partners with Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra for free tickets

The Cumberland County Library System on Wednesday announced it has a new partnership with the Harrisburg Symphony Association to provide free tickets to Masterworks and youth orchestra concerts in the 2025-26 season for first-time attendees.

County commissioners vote 2-1 to approve a library tax increase for 2025

Cumberland County libraries could receive a welcome boost in funding next year.

During a meeting Wednesday, the county commissioners voted 2-1 to increase the county library tax from the current 0.166 mills to 0.250 mills. The increase will generate an additional $2.3 million in revenue, said Keri Finkenbinder, senior accountant for the county.

Eighty-six percent of the employees in Cumberland County libraries make less than needed for a single adult with no children to afford living in the county, according to the preliminary findings of a compensation study due out in late December.
